I promised myself that in 2013 I'd try to break the habit of buying things just because they're cheap as chips, but I just couldn't resist MUA's recent 50% offer.
All this came to just over $20!
The main reason I made an order was to try some of MUA's new base products.
The Fixing Mist (£5) is very much a setting spray, as opposed to something like MAC Fix+ which adds a glow. I've noticed a slight improvement in my foundations wear time since I started using this and it's very refreshing to spray it on on a hot day.
Matte Perfect Loose Powder in Translucent ( £2.30) is nothing amazing, but I go through setting powders so fast that it's nice to have such a cheap option.
Matte Perfect Primer (£4) is super siliconey. It has a thick consistency but it's very easy to spread to to the 'cones. I do like this kind of primer on occasion and MUA's offering is a good bargain option. The tube is on the small side though.
Never one to pass over a gimmicky nail product, I had to try the Fur Effect Nails (£3). I got the purple shade, Fluffy Bobbin. The product couldn't be easier to use. Just paint your nails with a similarly coloured nail polish, shake some furry bits out of the dispenser and pat them onto wet nails. Brush off the excess fur (I used an old powder brush). Done. The effect is cute, though from a distance it just looks like matte nail polish. I half-expected the fur to just wash way when my hands got wet, but it lasted 2 days before it began to look a bit mangy.
Intense Kisses lipgloss in Sweet Nothings, glitter eyeliners in Iced and Shade 8.
The Intense Kisses lipgloss (£2) is nice enough. Nothing you can't get from any cheap make-up brand. It has a doe foot applicator. Two layers makes it almost opaque.
I've been wanting to try MUA's £1 glitter eyeliners for a while. The silver shade, Iced is great. Packed with fine glitter, you only need one or two layers to get a strong line of glitter. The green shade, which has much chunkier glitter, is less densely packed but still pretty. I didn't experience any fall out with these, and I'll definitely pick up a few colours the next time MUA has a good offer.
I also grabbed a back-up of Pro-Brow Kit (£3.50), which I've been using daily lately, and a couple more Nail Constellations (£3 each).
Did you purchase anything during MUA's 50% sale? What do you think of my furry nails?
i'm the same trying not to buy things just because they are cheap!
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to buy something during MUA's 50% sale, I had my cart ready and everything.
ReplyDeleteBut there was just too many issues and our purchase had to be at least 15 pounds after discount, which mine wasn't so bummer :(
Those fuzzy nails are sooo cute! Great haul :)
I want to get some of the Fur Nails now!
ReplyDeleteHaha those Fur Nails made me laugh for some reason. They look hilarious, so gimmicky haha! I have to try them out sometime!
